Defending champions Rangers staged a second-half comeback to defeat Motherwell and secure a spot in the Scottish League Cup final against Celtic, thanks to Nedim Bajrami's late deflected strike.

Motherwell sought to add to the pressure on manager Philippe Clement after a string of poor results, including a midweek loss at Pittodrie that left Rangers nine points adrift of both Celtic and Aberdeen in the Premiership after just 10 games.

Fans demanded a reaction, and although Rangers started strong, they fell behind when former Ibrox midfielder Andy Halliday volleyed past Jack Butland, capitalizing on a superb cross from Steve Seddon.

Halliday's muted celebrations contrasted with the jubilation of the Motherwell supporters, who were hopeful for an upset.

Rangers struggled to respond, and the boos at halftime highlighted the team's disappointing performance.

However, the second half saw a swift turnaround.

Cyriel Dessers, who had earlier missed a close-range chance, finally found the net by finishing off a cross from Connor Barron, breaking his eight-game goal drought.

This sparked Rangers into action, as they showed increased intensity and creativity to create clear scoring opportunities.

Despite a series of near misses—Jefte hitting the post after a brilliant save from Aston Oxborough, and James Tavernier blasting over—Rangers kept pushing.

After good work from Vaclav Cerny, Bajrami's deflected shot found the back of the net, helping Rangers secure a vital win.

Cerny nearly added another goal, striking the post late on, but Rangers held on to secure their much-needed victory ahead of their return to Europa League action this week.
